Entry Requirements

MINIMUM ADMISSION QUALIFCATIONS

Admissions process into the University shall be a 2 stage process, i.e.

Stage 1: General admission into the university is done by the Admissions Office

Stage 2: All students selected by Admissions Office are then forwarded to the respective faculties/departments for acceptance into the specific programs guided by ZIMCHE Minimum Bodies of Knowledge and Skills (MBK/S) programmes rolled out effective 1st September 2020.

Based on MBK/S, the University admission regulations are laid down and adapted by Solusi University which are as follows:

Special entry

Applicants with 5 ‘O’ Levels but have no  “A” Levels, could be admitted on the basis of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) of National Certificate (NC), National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND) and any other qualifications acknowledged in the Zimbabwe National Qualification Framework (ZNQF). NC qualifications are at entry LEVEL I, ND qualifications are at entry LEVEL II and HND qualifications are at entry LEVEL III

Assessment of these qualifications shall be conducted by Deans and Chairs of each respective faculty and department to match entry levels as informed by the Zimbabwe National Qualifications Frameworks (ZNQFs).

(ii) years relevant experience and approved by Facualty Board 
Doctorate: PhD
(i) A low-grade pass at masters , and
(ii) 4 years relevant experience and approved by Facualty Board
Doctorate: DPhil
(i) A low-grade pass at masters , and
(ii) 4 years relevant experience and approved by Facualty Board

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Students who come from outside Zimbabwe must be in possession of a valid passport or travel document and must submit evidence that they are able to pay their fees in a foreign currency acceptable by the government of Zimbabwe.

When international applicants have been accepted by the Admissions Committee, have received financial clearance from the Business Office, have been assigned accommodation by the Residence Deans, and have submitted passport details to the Registrar’s office, a request for a Student Permit is submitted to the Zimbabwe Immigration authorities.

Zimbabwean law requires that within three months prior to entry into Zimbabwe: 

  • Students must obtain a chest x-ray and,
  • A radiological certificate attesting to freedom from active pulmonary tuberculosis (a doctor’s certificate is not accepted).  
Student permits are kept in the Solusi University office of Admissions.  
Assistance with the renewal of entry permits and passports is given to students as required.


Documents required for Study Permit application include: 

  1. Chest X-ray report, 
  2. Passport page showing the face and particulars of the applicant, 
  3. University application letter to the controller of immigration, 
  4. Acceptance letter, 
  5. Letter of confirmation of accommodation and study programme, 
  6. IF1 and IF5 immigration forms, 
  7. Proof of payment of fees in acceptable foreign currency, 
  8. Proof of payment for Study Permit, 
  9. Three identical passport size photos and 
  10. A current Police Clearance obtained from the country of origin.  
International students are not permitted to study without a valid study permit or proof that they have applied for one or extended their expired study permit.  
Expired study permits must be extended 3 months prior to their dates of expiry.
